NDU NLC | DEANS' LIST CEREMONY

The Dean’s List awards ceremony for the academic year 2016-17 was held on May 15, 2017, at 6 p.m., at the Notre Dame University-Louaize North Lebanon Campus (NDU-NLC) to honor outstanding students in the presence of faculty deans, faculty members, administrators, staff, students, parents, and friends.

Master of Ceremonies Dr. Chady El-Moucary underlined in his welcome note the two main reasons why this year’s event differed from those held previously.  First were the highly acclaimed and successful interschool competitions, which witnessed a significant gathering of participating secondary school students — chaperoned by their parents and their various school principals — in the competitions organized by the Faculty of Engineering (FE), the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS), and the Faculty of Humanities (FH).  Second was the presence of esteemed guest speaker NDU President Fr. Walid Moussa who through his dedicated service and commitment has put the University on the international academic map and spurred the growth and development of NDU by increasing student enrollment, advancing its curricula, making headway in the accreditation process, and adding more buildings, facilities, and resources.

For his part, NLC Director Fr. Samir Ghsoub welcomed the audience and congratulated the winners. He emphasized the close and productive ties between NDU and the wider community.  Fr. Ghsoub went on to discuss the importance of high academic standards, quality education, and the instilling of culture in the quest to build a brighter future on a national scale. He also thanked all who had contributed toward the advancement of NLC.

In his speech, Fr. Moussa stressed the responsibility and duty of the University to foster remarkable academic standards since this paramount objective is a key pillar of its mission.  Speaking of the Dean’s List, he noted how rewarding it must be for parents to witness their children being distinguished amongst many and for educators to witness the fruit of their labor.  Fr. Moussa concluded by discussing the importance and significance of the NEASC accreditation, and he acknowledged the efforts of faculty, staff, and students in the overall development of the University. Finally, he invited everyone present to attend on May 31, 2017, the official opening ceremony of the new buildings at the NLC.

Outstanding students were then invited on stage to accept their awards from the various faculty deans and coordinators.  In addition, the interschool competition winners, along with their school principals, also received their prizes and awards.

Talented NLC student Charbel Mansour entertained the audience during the interlude with a graceful performance on piano.

To end the evening on a high note, everyone gathered to enjoy an open buffet.
